   袁生,博士,教授,博士生导师,生命科学学院院长,教育部生物科学专业教学指导分委员会委员,中国微生物学会理事, 江苏省微生物学会秘书长,江苏省微生物学精品课程主持人。1997年生物系博士研究生毕业,1998-2001年美国宾州州立生物系博士后。1990年以来,先后主持国家自然科学基金5项,国家科技部“十五”科技攻关项目子课题2项,以及其它省部级项目和企业委托项目10多项。在国内外发表论文80余篇,获得国家发明专利10项,参与撰写专著、教材3部,先后获得省科技进步成果奖、省优秀教学成果奖等奖励。主要研究方向为微生物生长代谢调控研究。在微生物生长代谢调控的分子生物学研究领域:主要从事酵母细胞增殖、菌丝顶端生长、细胞壁伸长生长的功能基因组学研究。在微生物代谢调控与药物合成研究领域:主要研究和利用微生物特殊和多样化代谢途径,开展微生物转化合成药物、农药及其中间体的研究。
